Aurora’s Board Unanimously Rejects Curaleaf’s Hostile Bid

On September 2, Aurora’s board unanimously recommended that shareholders reject Curaleaf’s unsolicited takeover offer. The board also told shareholders to withdraw any shares they’d already tendered.

Aurora’s shareholder circular lays out the reasoning. The bid undervalues Aurora. Aurora is debt-free, with roughly $149 million in cash as of June 30. Curaleaf, by contrast, carries over $1 billion in debt. Under the deal’s terms, Aurora shareholders would end up owning 7.7% of the combined company. But they’d control only 3.2% of the voting power, because of Curaleaf’s multi-voting share structure.

Aurora CEO Miguel Martin called the bid “inadequate.” Aurora says it’s evaluating other options, including alternatives to Curaleaf’s offer.

Revelry Buyers’ Club Returns to Pier 36

We flagged Revelry Buyers’ Club as “coming up” in last week’s roundup. It deserves more than a passing mention. Revelry returns to Pier 36 in New York on September 18. It’s part of the brand’s 10th anniversary run, which includes two New York events in 2026.

It’s a buyers’ club event built for the trade, not a consumer show: brand discovery, sourcing conversations, and networking for retailers and buyers, not a walk-in cannabis fair. It also lands the same weekend as NECANN’s New Jersey Cannabis Convention and Cup Awards in Atlantic City (September 18-19). Anyone trying to cover both will be splitting a weekend between New York and New Jersey. Cannabis Industry Moves Worth Watching

A Massachusetts cultivation crew ratifies a first contract, with an AI clause

Cultivation, harvest, and pest management workers at New England Treatment Access (NETA) in Franklin, Massachusetts ratified their first union contract on August 28. Negotiations had stalled for 16 months before that. The contract includes a one-time $700 ratification bonus, better holiday and overtime pay, and successorship language protecting workers if the company is sold. It also includes a provision requiring the company to give the union advance notice before deploying new automation or AI systems that could affect their jobs.

NJ’s labor peace appeal is still pending

New Jersey’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission is appealing the ruling that struck down the state’s labor peace agreement mandate. That appeal remains before the Third Circuit, with no briefing schedule or ruling yet as of this week.
