New York gets a lot of things first: the U.S. Open, Fashion Week, the best bagels. In 25 days it also gets the cannabis industry’s most focused buyer show of the year. Revelry NY lands at Pier 36 on September 18. If you operate in NY, plan to be there.
This is the weekly cannabis events post for the week of August 24 to 30, 2026, with Revelry NY as the featured anchor. Plus the operator events landing this week and the late-August industry moves worth watching. MSO Q2 earnings have been fully digested. The Curaleaf-Aurora takeover bid is generating a week of market reaction. Harvest execution is underway across the northeast. And this weekend is the last window before Labor Day for anything you were planning to do about Q4 dispensary staffing.
When: Friday September 18, 2026, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM ET. Where: Pier 36, 299 South Street, New York, NY 10002. Register: Revelry NY Buyer Registration.
Revelry Buyers’ Club is New York’s cannabis trade show built by On The Revel, the team that has been running cannabis community events since 2016. The format is not conventional trade show. Revelry vets buyers and brands, keeps the room focused on buyers with active procurement authority, and designs the day around real conversations instead of booth-and-swag mechanics. Licensed cultivators, processors, and brands meet retail buyers who are actively looking for products to stock. That format is why Revelry pulls the operator turnout it does.
The May 2026 Revelry Hudson event drew 40 plus licensed New York retailers doing real procurement business in a single day. See our Revelry Buyers Club Hudson 2026 guide for the operational feel of a Revelry event and what to expect on Pier 36 in September.
Revelry NY 2026 introduces a dedicated Micro Business Program to support and spotlight New York’s craft cannabis operators, ensuring smaller operators have visible presence alongside established brands and industry leaders. For NY microbusiness licensees, this is the room where you get in front of retail buyers who otherwise never see your product line.
NY is now the number 3 cannabis employment state in the U.S., at approximately 28,660 cannabis jobs per the Vangst 2026 Cannabis Jobs Report. NY cannabis workforce grew roughly 129 percent year over year. Retail licensing decisions from the New York Office of Cannabis Management continue to land weekly. Buyer pass eligibility for Revelry NY includes NY-licensed retailers, microbusinesses, ROD (Retail Operator on Demand), and delivery licensees. If you sit in any of those categories, buyer registration closes ahead of the event and this is one of the highest-density procurement conversations of the fall.
The Minority Cannabis Business Association’s annual Green Equity summit runs in Minneapolis Monday. It is the biggest midwest cannabis equity summit of the month and where midwest operator equity conversations happen. See MCBA Green Equity registration.
Watch state-specific operator networking events across CA, IL, MI, and MA this week. Most state industry associations run monthly networking evenings the last week of August as operators prepare for the Q4 push.
Labor Day weekend is one of the highest cannabis retail volume weekends of the summer. Most operators do not host industry events over the weekend, but expect concentrated retail community programming across every legal market. If you serve retail, this is the weekend to be on the floor with your team, not at an industry event.
Curaleaf formally launched a US$260 million unsolicited takeover bid for Aurora Cannabis on August 18. The deal is 0.3463 Curaleaf shares plus $0.75 cash per Aurora share, an implied approximately $4 per share, representing a 45 percent premium to Aurora’s 30-day volume-weighted average price as of August 10. The offer is open until December 1. This is the most significant cross-border cannabis M&A move of 2026. We cover the HR implications for cannabis operators inside or watching cross-border deals in our Wednesday post this week.
Green Thumb Industries, Verano, Curaleaf, Cresco Labs, and Trulieve all reported Q2 2026 earnings August 4 through 7. Operators are reading Q3 tea leaves. See our MSO Q2 Earnings HR Signals post for the workforce-decode framework. The SG&A reduction pattern is what to watch for the rest of the quarter.
A federal court in Trenton ruled August 10 that New Jersey’s cannabis labor peace agreement mandate is preempted by federal labor law. NJ appealed August 13. See our NJ Cannabis Labor Peace Ruling post for the 5 things every operator needs to know.
Two things I am watching this week alongside the Aug 24 to 30 event calendar. First, the Q4 dispensary staffing cliff is landing right now for every retail operator with college part-time exposure. If your Labor Day hiring cycle has not started, this weekend is when it stops being a soft problem and starts being an October problem. Watch for our Friday Back-to-School Staffing Cliff piece for the full framework, or start the audit today. Second, the Curaleaf-Aurora deal is the most significant cross-border cannabis M&A move of 2026 and it is going to reshape operator conversations about consolidation for the rest of the year. If your operator is inside a deal conversation or watching one from the sidelines, this is the moment to have the HR framework in place.

This post is informational and reflects patterns we have seen across the 50+ cannabis operators we work with. It is not legal advice. Federal drug testing, DOT compliance, and immigration rules interact in complicated ways and change frequently. Consult licensed employment counsel and immigration counsel before making hire or fire decisions involving federally-regulated workers.
